After a well deserved lie in (last night was a heavy one!) we taxi'd to the summer palace, one of the "must visit" places in Beijing!
The park is absolutely massive, it's built around a lake and everywhere you turn there are more and more old beautiful buildings!
We headed straight to the palace itself as that closes before anything else! The story is that it was built by someone for their wife to go to during the summer when it was too hot in the south of china. The views from the top were absolutely stunning.
We then went on a boat, brilliant experience. We hired this little battery powered boat - possibly the slowest thing I've ever seen. The most exciting it got was when I was driving behind a boat and we went into its wash, nearly flipped the boat over! Saying "ni hao" to all the other boaters was pretty funny!
